AUGUST 27, 2024, TAIPEI NEWS. Since ChatGPT burst onto the scene, generative AI has been making waves worldwide, reshaping industries, and sparking conversations across tech companies, startups, and even government agencies. Today (27th), APMIC, Taiwan's only NVIDIA-certified independent software vendor for generative AI solutions, announced its official expansion into the U.S. market. The company plans to bring its flagship large language model platform, CaiGunn, to North America. APMIC’s goal is simple: to help businesses build their own AI systems and make AI accessible to everyone, fostering a smoother transition into the AI-driven future.

From Taiwan to the World: Introducing CaiGunn
Founded in 2017, APMIC specializes in natural language understanding (NLU) technology. Its CaiGunn platform—named after the Taiwanese word for "chat"—allows businesses to upload documents, websites, or other data and turn them into a fully functional AI system without writing any code. Employees can use these AI tools to perform many tasks, from customer service to in-depth data analysis.
Currently, CaiGunn is used by over 800 organizations across industries, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and retail. Major clients like Google, NEC, and CTBC Bank have reported a 30% increase in service efficiency after adopting the platform.
APMIC’s localized approach to AI has earned its recognition as one of Taiwan’s most innovative tech companies. It was the only Taiwan-based team featured in NVIDIA’s Inception Startup Pitches and is among the top open-source language models on Hugging Face.
A Collaborative Ecosystem
The success of CaiGunn is built on strong partnerships. APMIC works with industry leaders like Dell, HPE, and NVIDIA to provide seamless hardware and software integration for AI solutions. APMIC’s approach prioritizes data security and cost efficiency, which are key concerns for many businesses.
The recently launched CaiGunn-TaME model, designed specifically for traditional Chinese, further demonstrates APMIC’s commitment to localized AI solutions. Built with NVIDIA’s accelerated inference microservices (NIMs) and enhanced by APMIC’s proprietary retrieval-augmented generation (C-RAG) technology, the model offers unparalleled cultural and linguistic relevance for Taiwanese users.

Expanding Horizons
APMIC’s entry into the U.S. market marks a significant milestone. According to P&S Intelligence, the global market for NLU is projected to grow from $18.9 billion in 2024 to $80.3 billion by 2030, with North America leading the demand.
To support this expansion, APMIC secured $1 million in pre-A funding earlier this year and plans to launch another funding round in September. The new capital will focus on strengthening APMIC’s R&D, scaling its team, and expanding its presence in North America and beyond.

Building the Future of AI
With CaiGunn, APMIC envisions a world where businesses no longer see AI as a complex, costly endeavor but as an accessible tool for growth and efficiency. “By empowering more people within an organization to use AI without technical barriers, we’re helping businesses truly embrace the AI era,” Wu said.
